Lavau Gigondas, Rhone, 2009
91/100
Vintages Wine Panel: Deep and intense aromas of black cherry, tea leaves, earth tones, blueberry, black pepper and fresh herbs. Dry with very good aroma replays (especially raspberry, black pepper and tea). Ripe and juicy centre that’s balanced out by good mid-palate tannins. Medium bodied, with a very solid finish. Showing very well now with charcuterie or beef brisket. It will also reward 2-4 years or more in a cellar. My note : As they say: lashings of black fruit with a tarry streak through it. Full-bodied and scrumptious, ready to meet any hearty meat dish head on.
Food pairings: hearty meat dish.
